One of my absolute favorite parts of a wedding day is photographing the details. From your rings to your shoes, these items are more than just accessories, they tell your unique story and set the tone for the day.
To help you feel prepared (and avoid any last-minute stress), here’s a handy checklist of what to have ready when I arrive to photograph your details. Feel free to save this and share it with your planner or maid of honor, too!
1. All Three Rings
This may seem obvious, but it’s surprisingly common for the rings to end up in separate places! Be sure to keep the engagement ring, bride’s wedding band, and groom’s wedding band together in one safe spot before the ceremony — and before passing them off to your maid of honor and best man.
2. Wedding Stationery
Don’t leave a piece behind! Gather your full stationery suite:
– Invitation
– Save the date
– RSVP card
– Details card
– Wedding program
– Envelopes (yes, even the envelopes!)
Having the full set helps me create beautiful, styled flat lays that showcase all the thought you put into inviting your favorite people.
3. The Bride and Groom’s Accessories + Shoes
Anything special you’re wearing deserves its moment in the spotlight. This includes:
– Bride’s shoes, jewelry, hairpieces, and veil
– Groom’s shoes, tie or bow tie, cufflinks, watch, or pocket square
If it’s meaningful to you, it’s meaningful to capture.
4. The Bouquet, Boutonnière, and Loose Florals
The more flowers, the better! Be sure to have the bouquet and boutonnière ready, but if your florist can also include a few loose blooms or greenery, it can elevate the detail photos so much. Loose florals add texture, color, and that magical touch.
5. Perfume & Cologne
Your wedding fragrance is such a personal detail — and most bottles are beautiful to photograph! Including your chosen perfume and cologne helps capture the memory of how the day smelled, too.
Bonus: Something Blue 🩵
If you’re honoring the tradition of “something blue,” let’s include it! Whether it’s your shoes, a ribbon, or a special piece of jewelry, we’ll make sure it’s documented beautifully.
Having these items gathered before I arrive saves time, reduces stress, and lets us create gorgeous, thoughtful detail photos that truly reflect your story.
If you have any questions or want help thinking through your details, don’t hesitate to reach out — I’m here to help!
